04/10/06
Rain, then overcast, then blue skies and sunshine.

First day of ‘Investigation Week’ No. 2
Driving along the M62 from Manchester it was pelting it down.
I drove straight to The Outhouse – my plan was to stay there until 2pm, but hunger got the better of me so I stopped what I was doing to reach for my sarnies and my watch – 3.30pm! I guess writing backwards on the glass walls with my white board pen took more concentration than I’d imagined.
‘Brownfield sites, derelict sites, wastelands, carbon sequestration, air cleaners removing CO2, secret gardens, hidden, guarded, …”
Whist eating my lunch I was perplexed, what had started out as a rainy had turned into a beautiful sunny day, the daylight hours were running out and so too was my cycling time. Carol, dog walker of Picasso and Monet who I met last week approached. She asked how the project was going and was surprised to hear that I had actually found 2 Brownfield sites in Woolton. We discussed Liverpool Biennial, past and present, and art. Carol considers the artists who exhibit at the Tate as “wonnabes”, “the real masters have their work hanging in the Walker Gallery”. But that said she seems quite happy with my contribution. She asked if I had found the golf balls she had left for me… only one of the three she had placed near The Outhouse door remained… from now on she will hide them under a near-by tree.
